Julia Foug is drawn to the light of the Bay Area outdoors and the color that it creates. She works from photos of local areas, whether it be walking trails, or the beaches of Monterey. She connects with contemplative subjects that seem to be gazing or thinking, being a quiet observer herself. Foug was born in San Francisco and splits her time between Palo Alto and the Sierras.
