Joanne Helman is a Canadian artist based in Toronto, originally from London, England. She specializes in still life, using a meticulous oil painting technique with tiny brushes to achieve a high level of realism. Her compositions are simple, focusing on light, shadow, and negative space, which give her subjects an almost anthropomorphic quality. Helman is self-taught, with studies in Visual Art and Art History at Kingston College, London.
