Annie Darling was born in Chicago into a family of artists, alumni and educators of Harvard, RISD, Cooper Union, and Boston College’s College of Art. Raised among photographers, designers, sculptors, printmakers, and musicians, she grew up with art as a constant presence. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in art, graphic design, and communications, she founded two award-winning advertising firms and an art-based stationery company while maintaining a studio practice. She later turned to art full time. She lives and works in Maine, painting in encaustic and mixed media, layering pigmented wax with heat into luminous, tactile surfaces.
