Anita Cooke

New Orleans-based Anita Cooke is a process-driven artist working in sewn fabric, mixed media, drawing, collage, and installation. Trained as a ceramic sculptor, with an MFA from Newcomb College at Tulane University, she turned to textiles after Hurricane Katrina displaced her studio. Her layered works explore order and chaos, maps and pathways, and cycles of destruction and renewal. She is a recipient of a Louisiana Fellowship.
